Cats are instinctively drawn to moving water. In the wild, still water is more likely to be stagnant and unsafe. A fountain's continuous flow triggers their natural preference for fresh, moving water. Many cats who ignore their water bowl may start drinking from a fountain within a few days.
How long does it take for my cat to start using the fountain?
Most cats investigate within 24–48 hours and start drinking within 3–5 days. Keep their regular water bowl available during the transition. Do not remove it immediately. Once you see them drinking from the fountain regularly, you can remove the bowl.
How often do I need to clean the fountain?
Clean the fountain thoroughly once a week. Disassemble all parts, wash with mild dish soap, rinse well, and reassemble. The filter, if included, should be replaced every 2–4 weeks depending on usage and water quality. Hard water areas may require more frequent filter changes.
